Acne Vulgaris
Acne vulgaris definition
What is Acne Vulgaris?
Acne vulgaris is the most common form of acne, and is seen most often in teenagers or young adults. Acne develops when the hair follicle of your skin gets blocked by over production of dead cells and then become infected by bacteria. The infection causes redness, swelling, and pain. Some people define them as zits, pimples, blemishes, whiteheads or blackheads, call them what you want, but it's frustrating to have to deal with them.
When you have just a few pimples, or red spots, you have a mild form of acne. Severe acne can mean numerous pimples that can be found on the face, neck, chest and back. Or, they can be bigger, solid, red lumps (cysts) that are painful. Severe acne may need to be treated by a dermatologist.
How you feel about your acne may not be related to how bad it is. For some people, having a few pimples can be very upsetting and embarrassing. For others, it may not be a big deal to them.

Acne vulgaris treatment
Acne vulgaris
The first step in treating acne vulgaris is to determine the severity of the disease. There is no cure for acne, but following a daily regimen can help prevent more breakouts. Acne can result in scarring, so minimizing breakouts is important.
The acne regimen is a step-by-step, highly effective program that works to combat light to moderate acne. If you have severe acne, you may require a more aggressive treatment from a dermatologist.

Are you ready to take control of your acne?
It can take time to get acne under control. Keep using the same treatment for 6 to 8 weeks. You might even notice that it gets worse before it gets better, but be patient, and once it clears, make sure that you continue treatment to prevent new skin lesions from forming.
